The Villa at Monte Ventoso

Designed by the owner, the villa’s custom front door opens into a welcoming front hall. Tumbled travertine from Italy stretches across the floor, gracing the entire first level. Throughout the home, hand-troweled traditional plaster adorns the walls, adding timeless elegance.

Entering through the front door, your eye is drawn straight ahead to the French doors that lead to the back patio.

Set between the living room on the left and the kitchen on the right, the French doors open to the back patio.

Looking from the back French doors toward the front entry, the kitchen lies to the left and the living room to the right.

The serene yet inspirational library, home to classic literature, fine pieces, and a marble chessboard, features an antique French settee, Italian chandelier, old Persian rug, and a hidden built-in cabinet.

The dining room, bathed in cranberry red, sets the stage for dinner parties filled with lively conversations, laughter, and rich experiences. An Italian chandelier casts a warm glow over the space, while an antique French buffet and an old Persian rug add timeless elegance. The buffet is anchored in an arched, sunken alcove, and large windows fill the room with beautiful natural light.

The large, gourmet kitchen features a 48" Wolf gas cooktop, a full built-in SubZero refrigerator and freezer, an extra-wide 36" Wolf wall oven, and plenty of space for both cooking and entertaining. Whether you're a professional chef or a novice, this showcase kitchen is sure to inspire. The island is made from Italian limestone and other countertops of local Virginia soapstone.

Large copper pendants cast a warm glow over the enormous Italian limestone kitchen island, bathing it in a soft, inviting light.

This kitchen features a perfectly designed triangular workspace, with a 40" stainless steel sink to the left, a 48" Wolf cooktop and island at the center, and the refrigerator and freezer to the right. The island offers a bar area for stools, or ample space to accommodate a kitchen table, depending on your preference.

The 40" stainless steel sink is anchored by local Virginia soapstone and framed by a generous window, flooding the space with natural light and offering a fantastic view of the pool, rose arbor, boxwood garden, and back lawn.

The 48" Wolf gas cooktop is vented by a copper-faced custom hood, complemented by a reclaimed brick wall with a recessed nook featuring a hand-painted mural, a replica of an old Italian design the owner painted after admiring it in a decorating book. Below, traditional Italian-style open shelving adds to the charm. To the left, a mudroom offers convenience, while the laundry room and pantry are to the right.

The living room boasts a custom entertainment center handmade from wormwood by a local craftsman. The owner, Jennifer, worked closely with a stonemason to design the custom fireplace surround—while onsite, Jennifer made the distressed marks on the mantel. An antique French mirror adorns the fireplace, while large windows flood the room with natural light.

A bay window, with custom seating and storage underneath, offers a fantastic view of the back lawn, boxwood garden, greenhouse, rose arbor, guest house, and pool deck.

The living room’s bay window, a favorite reading spot for children, is the perfect place for an afternoon read.

The stairs feature polished wood handrails supported by custom copper pipe balusters. A matching copper newel post is crowned with a decorative pineapple finial made of brass.

The powder room, located between the library and living room, features walls adorned with a custom technique that mimics leather using brown paper bags and 13 earth umbers, all sealed with a glaze—an artful creation the owner crafted herself.

The villa's primary suite boasts two large windows and French doors that open to the front balcony, offering a view of the circular drive with an Italian water fountain, facing south toward the front of the property and the gently rolling hills beyond.
