A Message From the Owner of Monte Ventoso.
In the midst of life’s hustle and bustle, we all need a place to unwind, reconnect, and savor what truly matters. That requires slowing down, being present, and embracing life’s simplest pleasures.
Monte Ventoso offers precisely that. This estate is an otherworldly haven where you can pick organic fruits and vegetables from the garden, breathe in the fragrance of blooming roses, and enjoy picnics in scenic spots tucked around the villa. Prepare lavish meals al fresco, stargaze under clear skies, and listen to the symphony of birds—and the occasional frog on a summer night. Let the wind whisper through the trees, take slow walks along meandering paths, and watch the gentle stream flow over rocks. Most importantly, come to share love, laughter, and connection.
I began dreaming up the vision for Monte Ventoso in 2010 and wanted to create a home that would become the backdrop for treasured memories—holiday celebrations, quiet joys, and unforgettable life moments shared with family and friends.
I imagined a small estate with:
A villa standing proudly and wrapped in fragrant roses
A pool awaiting laughter-filled afternoons and swimming lessons with my grandchildren
Hills bursting with grapevines that would enable table grapes and homemade wine
A clay tennis court to offer playful competition
Chickens roaming happily, gifting us fresh eggs
An expansive garden nourishing us, truly farm-to-table
Two creative inspirations helped shape the spirit of Monte Ventoso: the film A Good Year, and Kathryn Ireland’s book Summers in France. Both influenced the villa’s design and spirit—and I encourage you to enjoy them for a glimpse into this world and perhaps to boost your own inspiration.
The Dream
I broke ground in 2011, the villa with no name. But as construction progressed, one thing became beautifully clear: the wind. With the land's shape and the weather's pattern, a gentle breeze was constantly moving through. My father suggested the name Monte Ventoso — Italian for "windy mountain." The moment I heard it, I knew it was perfect, and we officially declared the estate' Monte Ventoso.'
The Name
My son is now grown and married, and they're raising their two sweet daughters here in Virginia. With Monte Ventoso feeling too big for just me, I built La Casita, a smaller home at 1,000 square feet that is adjacent to the villa, and made that my residence. The villa evolved — first into a luxury Airbnb, and then into a venue for unforgettable events.
Monte Ventoso has been the beginning of many love stories. Couples have exchanged vows here, celebrated engagements and birthdays, and gathered with friends and family for moments that matter. I've enjoyed watching people laugh, cry, dance, and connect in this sacred space.
